Overcoming Gangs provides programs that offer options and alternatives to the appeal gangs have for local youth. They provide opportunities for lifestyle change and improvement through a two pronged approach: (1) addressing the issues of gang through intervention, one-on-one and group conceling, gang education, discussion group, (2) and helping prepare youth for the future through job readiness training, enterpreneurial programs, computer training, and homework assistance.

Working with other community partners like the Coalition of Neighborhood Councils (CNC), Pazzaz, STRIVE, and San Diego Community College District's Continuing Education Center, they are making a difference and changing lives.

In the last three years, Overcoming Gangs has conducted more than 30 school assemblies throughout San Diego, 15 community events, reaching 10,000 youth. More than 250 youth have been mentored by members of Overcoming Gangs and Beyond.
